This is one of Tina's favorite pictures. And the story behind it is one of her favorites to tell.
A little butterfly — tiny thing, kind of drab. Gray, with one little orange spot on the lower end of its wing. Nothing you'd look at twice.
But she followed it around the yard anyway. That's what she does. Her phone's her camera now, and when something small catches her attention, she goes after it.
It landed on the butterfly bush. And when it opened its wings and the sunlight hit the back of them — this beautiful blue-green iridescent color just lit up. Like a gift from God.

Wings closed: drab, gray, easy to walk past.

Wings open: all glory.
One of Tina's favorite sayings is "never judge a book by its cover." That butterfly put the saying on display in actual real life. She just stood there in awe.
I keep thinking about that. How many things do we walk past because they don't look like much at first glance? How much beauty is sitting there with its wings closed, waiting for the right light?
Tina got lucky twice that day — once spotting it, once having her phone in her hand. But really, the luck was in the slowing down. You don't follow a drab little butterfly around the yard if you're in a hurry.
So here's my question: what's the last thing you almost walked past?
